Arizmendi-Emervyville Now Hiring Owner-Workers

Arizmendi Emeryville is a worker-owned cooperative bakery that specializes in pastries, sourdough breads, and hand-tossed pizzas.

We share all of the tasks, responsibilities, benefits and risks of owning a business: baking,  finance, customer service, cleaning, and collective evaluations.                                                

We have several self-elected committees and vote-in committees.

We make the majority of our decisions by modified consensus.

We are connected to our sister bakeries and the Development and Support Cooperative through bakery-wide events.

Compensation + Benefits:

$18/hr + tips (after becoming a member/owner-worker personal hours accrual + profit share)                                                                                                                                         

Dental, Vision, and Health (currently Kaiser) benefits offered after 3 months paid for by the bakery

Up to 24 hours paid sick time for candidates

Pay day advances for member/owner-workers

May earn up to 4 weeks of vacation days/year

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse set of duties

Full time availability (35+ hours) required - less than full-time availability considered (25+ hours)

Dependable & ability to perform kitchen production & non-production duties in a given time-frame

Interest and engagement in all aspects of owning and running a bakery & pizzeria

Experience in customer service, barista, baking, & pizza building

Practical knowledge of or demonstrated knowledge in business administration/financial accounting

Ability to lift 10lbs repeatedly/frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally

Ability to stand and/or walk for at least 4 hours at a time

Flexibility of hours (early mornings/evenings); holidays/weekends required

Practical & demonstrated knowledge of written & spoken American-English

Practical arithmetic knowledge

Desired Qualifications:

Self-motivated, ability to work without direct supervision

Professional kitchen or baking experience is a plus

2-year commitment to bakery after becoming a member/owner-worker

Saturdays: 8am - 7pm                                                                                                               

Sundays: 8am - 6pm
